The virtual exhibition «The Musical Heritage of Grigory Pukst: A Look Through Archive Documents» marks the 125th anniversary of the composer’s birth

The Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI) presents documents from the collection of Grigory Konstantinovich Pukst, a Belarusian composer and Honored Artist of the BSSR (born in 1955), who will celebrate his 125th birthday on November 27, 2025.

Pukst’s documents were donated to the BSAMLI by the composer’s widow, Natalya Mikhailovna Pukst-Latysheva, after Grigory Konstantinovich’s death in 1960 and were scientifically described in 1962. These include music manuscripts, biographical materials, notebooks, and letters to the composer. G.Pukst’s musical legacy encompasses a vast array of works, spanning opera, symphony, chamber music, and instrumental genres. His compositional style is characterized by vibrant melody, lyricism, an accessible musical language, and a blend of dramatic mastery and authentic folk character. In his works, G.Pukst subtly conveyed the poetic beauty of Belarusian nature, as well as the experiences and reflections of his characters. The work of composer G.Pukst is an integral part of our national musical heritage.
