On the Vitebsk Region State Archives holding events for students of P.M. Masherov Vitebsk State University as part of the «Young Archivist» project

The Vitebsk Region State Archives and P.M. Masherov Vitebsk State University have long-standing and close ties.

In September 2023, a cooperation agreement was signed between the university and the archives, opening up new opportunities for joint projects, one of which is the «Young Archivist» project. As part of this project, from September 29 to October 3, 2025, on the eve of Archivist Day, a series of classes for first-year students of the Faculty of Humanities and Communications majoring in «Historical Education» was held at the Vitebsk Region State Archives.

During the introductory classes, future historians were briefly introduced to the history of archival work in Belarus, the main objectives and areas of the archive’s activities, and the range of documents stored there. They also gained an understanding of the organization of archival research in the archive’s reading room and methods for identifying archival documents, including online. These classes were designed to foster students’ interest in research as a foundation for their scholarly work.
