On holding the II International scientific and practical conference «Partisan Archive» dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War

On September 11, 2025, the II International scientific and practical conference «Partisan Archive» dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War was held in the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NARB).

The conference participants were addressed with welcoming speeches by the Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov, the Head of the Department for the Implementation of State Programs, Ensuring the Safety and Accounting of Archival Documents of the Archives Department of the Sverdlovsk Region O.A.Yakubovskaya, the Head of the Department of Source Studies of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University (hereinafter referred to as BSU), Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor S.N.Khodin, and the Director of NARB A.K.Demyanyuk.

The plenary session heard reports from Professor of the Higher School of Social Sciences of Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor E.E.Krasnozhenova («Life in the Occupied Territory in the Documents of the Leningrad Headquarters of the Partisan Movement»); Director of the State Archives of the Sverdlovsk Region A.A.Konstantinova («Reflection of the Partisan Movement of 1941-1945 in Folklore: Based on the Materials of the Collection of V.P.Biryukov»); Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work of Polotsk State University named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor A.I.Korsak («Documentary Sources of the BSHPD on Partisan Losses in 1942-1944»); Head of the Department of Ideological Support of the Department of Personnel Policy and Ideological Support of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus M.N.Skomoroshchenko («Strengthening the regulatory framework in the field of protecting historical memory and countering attempts to falsify the history of the Great Patriotic War in the Republic of Belarus in 2020-2025»); Executive Director of the Foundation for the Promotion of Actual Historical Research «Historical Memory» N.V.Selyukina («Partisan movement in Soviet Lithuania during the Great Patriotic War: problems of preserving historical memory»).

Head of the Publications Department of NARB U.A.Kolobaeva presented the publications of NARB for 2024-2025.

The conference participants were shown the newsreel «History of the Great Victory», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.

The conference was organized in two sections: «Historiography and sources on the history of the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War» and «The people’s partisan struggle in Belarus and the preservation of historical memory of it». The forum was attended by representatives of republican (NARB, Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art), regional (State Archives of the Minsk, Vitebsk, Mogilev Regions), zonal (Zonal State Archive in Glubokoye) archival institutions, institutions of higher education (BSU, Belarusian State University of Foreign Languages, Polotsk State University named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Institute of Border Service of the Republic of Belarus), the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union M.F.Shmyrev.

The international component of the platform is researchers from the Higher School of Social Sciences of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Samara State Technical University, Samara State Social and Pedagogical University, Institute of Geopolitical and Regional Studies of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, State Archives of the Sverdlovsk Region, State Archives of Administrative Bodies of the Sverdlovsk Region, Central State Archives of Historical and Political Documents of St.Petersburg, State Archives of the Republic of Mari El, Foundation for Assistance to Current Historical Research «Historical Memory», Lyceum No.8 of Solnechnogorsk, Moscow Region, Kazakh-Kyrgyz University named after Al-Farabi. In total, more than 40 people took part in the conference.

Based on the results of the conference, it is planned to publish a collection of articles.
