Visit of the delegation of archivists of the Sverdlovsk region of the Russian Federation to Belarus

As part of the cooperation between archivists of the Republic of Belarus and the Sverdlovsk region of the Russian Federation, a visit of our Russian colleagues to Minsk took place.

Head of the Department for the Implementation of State Programs, Ensuring the Preservation and Accounting of Archival Documents of the Archives Department of the Sverdlovsk Region O.A.Yakubovskaya and Director of the State Budgetary Institution of the Sverdlovsk Region «State Archives of the Sverdlovsk Region» A.A.Konstantinova visited the state institution «Central Laboratory for Ensuring the Preservation of Documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus». During the excursion, Acting Director of the Laboratory S.I.Mezga told his colleagues about the restoration work and digitization of archival documents.

A meeting of the Deputy Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus A.E.Tsvetkov with archivists of the Sverdlovsk Region was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NARB). Alexey Evgenievich told his colleagues about the structure of the archival service of Belarus and the priority areas of activity of archival institutions, and also emphasized the importance of cooperation with archivists of the Russian Federation.

Olga Alekseevna Yakubovskaya in her speech noted the commonality of professional interests and the broad opportunities for exchanging experience and jointly solving common problematic issues that are opening up thanks to the cooperation of archivists.

During the meeting, the issue of holding a joint round table on the topic of providing remote access to archival documents was discussed. It is planned to hold a round table via videoconferencing this year.

After the official meeting, an introductory tour of the NARB was organized for the guests. O.A.Yakubovskaya and A.A.Konstantinova will take part in the II International Scientific and Practical Conference «Partisan Archive» dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, which will be held in NARB on September 11, 2025.
