On the participation of a representative of BelNIIDAD in the Moscow Heraldic Forum – 2025

On August 22, 2025, on the Day of the Celebration of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Heraldic Forum – 2025 was held in the Heraldic Hall of Moscow. It was organized by the Heraldic Council of Moscow, headed by its heraldmaster, member of the Presidium of the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation O.V.Kuznetsov. The forum is designed to popularize the study of heraldry and draw attention to official heraldic symbols.

Before the grand opening of the forum, the Military Model Orchestra of the Preobrazhensky Regiment performed the National Anthem of Russia and popular wartime songs.

At the ceremony, 17 city municipalities of the capital received certificates of registration of coats of arms and flags entered into the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation and the Heraldic Register of the City of Moscow. The corresponding certificates are issued to municipalities (cities, districts, settlements), state bodies that have developed and officially approved their symbols in accordance with heraldic rules. Registration gives the symbols official status and legal protection.

An exhibition dedicated to the symbols of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and military valor has also opened in the Heraldic Hall of Moscow. The exhibits include state awards (orders and medals), insignia (shoulder straps, sleeve and buttonhole badges), and striped vests. One of the stands features badges dedicated to the hero cities of the Soviet Union, including the Brest Fortress and the city of Minsk.

At a meeting of the Heraldic Council, its members, in the presence of invited guests, summed up the results of 5 years of activity on registering the symbols of city objects. The importance of strengthening contacts with the Heraldic Council under the President of the Republic of Belarus was especially emphasized. At the plenary session, the participants of the forum repeatedly emphasized the idea that such events not only consider the issues of theory and practice of heraldry, but also introduce the results of the latest research in this area. Heraldry helps to preserve historical memory and develop patriotism in the hearts of citizens and, first of all, young people.

The forum was attended by Marina Mikhailovna Elinskaya, a senior researcher at the Department of Archeography of the BelNIIDAD, candidate of historical sciences, secretary of the Heraldic Council under the President of the Republic of Belarus, who made a report on the topic «The Heraldic Council under the President of the Republic of Belarus and the main principles of its activities». During the report, official heraldic symbols were demonstrated that had passed the examination of the Heraldic Council, officially established and entered into the State Heraldic Register of the Republic of Belarus, which is maintained by the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.
