On holding an event at the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» for participants of the training camp on labor protection
On July 10, 2025, for the participants of the training camp on labor protection – managers and specialists of the republican archival institutions, a tour was held of the building of the archival storage of the State Archives of the Gomel Region, which was put into operation in 2024, located in Gomel at the address: ul. Kosareva, 23.
The head of the Department of organizational, methodological, registration and archival work of the Main Department of Justice of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, Natalya Sokolova, told the participants of the event that 9 million rubles were spent on the reconstruction of the facility within the framework of investment programs. The total area of the facility put into operation after reconstruction exceeds 2.1 thousand square meters. This made it possible to resolve the issue of staffing the regional archive for decades to come.
The archive director Yuri Shestopalov and the archive specialists spoke about the processes of filling the archive storage facility, which is designed for 500 thousand storage units. As well as about the procedure for preparing for the transfer and transfer of documents for permanent storage. At present, the archive storage facility contains 26 thousand storage units. The premises meet modern standards and technical requirements necessary for the correct storage and use of documents. The meeting participants discussed various issues related to the working conditions of workers and safety regulations.
The participants of the event were presented with a banner exhibition «Unconquered Gomel Region», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Gomel from the Nazi invaders. The banner exhibition was created on the basis of documentary materials from the archives of Belarus.
