Deputy Director of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region, Honorary Archivist of Belarus Tatyana Buevich was awarded the title of «Vitebsk Resident of the Year»
Deputy Director of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region, Honorary Archivist of Belarus Tatyana Buevich was awarded the title of «Vitebsk Resident of the Year» for her professional excellence, significant contribution to the development of the National Archival Fund, active participation in the work to popularize historical knowledge, as well as in holding events at a high organizational level aimed at preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War.
Tatyana Buevich devoted over 26 years of her professional activity to the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region.
A native of the city on the Dvina, Tatyana Vladimirovna made a significant contribution to the popularization of the history of Belarus and her native Vitebsk, historical periods associated with the formation and development of Belarusian statehood, the 30th anniversary of the Presidency, the liberation of the Dvina region from the Nazi invaders, and the post-war restoration of the region.
Her publications of scientific research, articles and interviews, lectures and excursions, participation in television and radio programs, speeches at conferences, round tables – all this is based on archival sources.
In particular, with the participation of Tatyana Buevich, preparation for the publication of collections of documents «Vitebsk: Classics and Avant-garde. History of the Vitebsk Art School in the documents of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region (1918 – 1923)» (2004), «History of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve. The 90-Year-Long Path (1925–2015) (2015), collections of articles «Vitebsk Archival Region: History, Collections, Personalities (Mid-19th – 20th Centuries)» (2002), «We Stood Strong and Won: Archives Testify» (2005), the anniversary publication «Vitebsk Archival Region at the Beginning of the 21st Century: Link of Times» (2008), «There Is an Ancient City on the Dvina» (2024); the archival reference book «State Archives of the Vitebsk Region: Guide, 1917–2006» (2011) and other publications.
Since 2024, Tatyana Buevich has been a participant in the «Open Film Archive. We Brought This Day Closer as Best We Could» project, dedicated to the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Great Victory. She holds events for schoolchildren, universities and the general Vitebsk public aimed at popularizing the project, and also organizes presentations of films provided by BGAKFFD and their screening, accompanied by lectures on the history of the liberation of the Vitebsk region from the Nazi invaders.
In 2025, Tatyana Vladimirovna began working in a new format as part of the project – giving lectures on the history of the liberation of Vitebsk and the Vitebsk region with access to enterprises and institutions. During the events, chronicle-documentary films prepared by BGAKFFD are shown. Lectures and viewing of the chronicle evoke a lively response from Vitebsk residents.
