On the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference «Archival Dialogue: From the Great Victory to Peaceful Life: Towards the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War»
On May 22, 2025, the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference «Archival Dialogue: From the Great Victory to Peaceful Life: Towards the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War» was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NARB).
The following addressed the conference participants with welcoming remarks: Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov, Deputy Director of NARB E.A. Stukanova, Dean of the History Department of the Belarusian State University (hereinafter referred to as BSU), Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor A.G.Kokhanovsky, Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor V.L.Lakiza.
The plenary session featured reports by the executive director of the Foundation for the Promotion of Current Historical Research «Historical Memory» N.V.Selyukina («Memorialization in the Lithuanian SSR of the Memory of the Victims of the Nazi Occupation of 1941-1944 in the First Post-War Decades: Examples and Significance») and the director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, PhD in Sociology, Associate Professor N.L.Myslivets («Historical Memory of the Great Patriotic War in the Mirror of Sociology»).
The conference was organized in four sections: «Archival Science in Belarus in the 20th-21st Centuries: History, Methodology, Practice», «Source Study Potential of Documents on the Modern History of Belarus and the Post-Soviet States (First Half of the 20th Century)», «The Great Patriotic War as Reflected in Historical Sources», «Archival Documents as a Source for Studying Historical Events (1944-2000s)».
The conference was attended by representatives of republican (NARB, National Historical Archives of Belarus, Belarusian Research Institute of Document Science and Archival Affairs, National Historical Archives in Grodno), regional (State Archives of the Vitebsk, Brest, Mogilev Regions), zonal (Zonal State Archives in Glubokoye) archival institutions, institutions of higher education (BSU, Mogilev State University named after A.A. Kuleshov, Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University, Polotsk State University named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Institute of Border Service of the Republic of Belarus, Vitebsk State Order of Peoples’ Friendship Medical University, Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, Belarusian State University of Food and Chemical Technologies, Minsk State Linguistic University), the Academy of Education, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Institute of History and Institute of Sociology), Vitebsk Cadet School, the Central House of Officers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
The international component of the platform is researchers from the Higher School of Social Sciences of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Samara State Technical University, Samara State Social and Pedagogical University, State Archives of the Pskov Region, National Archives of the Republic of Karelia, and the Foundation for Assistance to Current Historical Research «Historical Memory». In total, more than 50 people took part in the conference.
A collection of articles is planned to be published based on the results of the conference.
