Participation of the Zonal State Archives in Polotsk in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War

On May 8, 2025, on Freedom Square near the monument to the Liberators of Polotsk, a city patriotic event «In the Hearts Forever» was held, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

Employees of the Zonal State Archives in Polotsk took part in the event, honored the memory of those killed in battle with a minute of silence, and laid flowers in memory of the heroic liberators. Such events help strengthen patriotism and respect for the history of their country.

On May 9, archivists in Polotsk took part in the procession «Belarus Remembers!» on the Mound of Immortality, joining hundreds of citizens to honor the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

The procession «Belarus Remembers!» became a symbol of the unity of generations, a connecting thread between the past and the present. Participants, young and old, walked shoulder to shoulder, carrying flowers and flags, portraits of their loved ones, those who gave their lives for a peaceful sky above their heads. Songs of the war years were heard, bringing tears to the eyes of veterans and their descendants.

The Mound of Immortality, towering over the city, became a place where the memory of the heroes comes to life again and again. At the foot of the mound, a requiem meeting was held, where words of gratitude and sorrow were heard.

On this day, filled with sorrow and hope, everyone felt like part of a large family united by a common history.
