On the visit of the employees of the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» to the military cemetery and the memorial complex «Children of War» in Mogilev

As part of the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, on May 8, 2025, employees of the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» laid flowers at the sculptural composition of fallen soldiers at the military cemetery and at the memorial «Children of War» in Mogilev. In the military cemetery on Lazarenko Street in Mogilev, 109 soldiers of the Red Army, partisans who died during the Great Patriotic War were buried in the post-war period. Among those buried are soldiers of the 173rd Rifle Division of the 13th Army of the Western Front, which defended Mogilev in July 1941, as well as soldiers of the 49th and 50th Armies of the 2nd Belorussian Front, who died in June 1944 during the liberation of Mogilev from the Nazi invaders. Among them are 5 Heroes of the Soviet Union: Mikhail Kondratievich Buyanov, Mikhail Afanasyevich Zamulayev, Osman Musaevich Kasayev, Nikolai Vasilyevich Romashko and Vasily Ignatyevich Pankov. The memorial complex «Children of War» was opened on July 3, 2009, as part of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders (authors: sculptor Vladimir Slobodchikov, architect Igor Morozov).

The archive staff, paying tribute to the people who died and survived in this hell, hope that something like this will never happen again in human history.
