BGAMLI at the opening of the exhibition «Artist at War. Artist about War. Artist after War»
On April 30, 2025, employees of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) attended the opening of the exhibition «Artist at War. Artist about War. Artist after War» at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NHMRB) as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
The exhibition presents works from the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The central figure of the project is the personality of the artist, his own view of the military events and the post-war period. Here you can see the works of artists who fought at the front and those whose childhood fell on wartime. Rare, small-sized sketches from 1941-1945 depicting portraits of fellow soldiers of the artists, scenes of modest life and rare recreation, destroyed buildings and uninhabited settlements were selected for the project. Portraits and self-portraits of artists who participated in the Great Patriotic War are presented in a separate block. A significant part of the exhibition consists of works about life after the war, the restoration of the country and cities, picturesque landscapes of the native land.
«Artist at War. Artist about War. Artist after the War» is not just an important event reminding us of the war and the power of art. For the employees of BGAMLI, this is also a valuable experience passed on by fellow exhibitors, allowing them to develop their own knowledge about the professional formation of exhibitions.
