The Rechitsa Zonal State Archives presents documents on the liberation of the Gomel region from the Nazi invaders
The Rechitsa State Archives permanently stores the fund of the editorial office of the newspaper «Za Radzimu» of the former Komarinsky district of the Polesie (since 1954– Gomel) region. One of the files of this fund includes operational reports of the Soviet Information Bureau, dated October 1, 1943– December 31, 1944 and reflecting the process of liberation of Belarus from the Nazis by the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
In particular, there are Sovinformburo reports (F.163. Op. 1. d. 1. L. 33, 35, 38, 40) containing information about the battles for the liberation of the current territory of the Gomel region in November 1943, including the cities of the region – Rechitsa, Vasilevichi (both – November 18), Khoyniki (November 24), Yelsk, Chechersk (both – November 27) and the regional center Gomel (November 26).
