«Historical Heritage and Strengthening National Unity»: The Zonal State Archives in Molodechno presented its work at an international scientific and practical conference in Yekaterinburg

On April 16, 2025, the international scientific and practical conference «1941-1945. Memory is Alive» was held in Yekaterinburg. The main organizers of the forum were the Archives Department of the Sverdlovsk Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region. The event took place at several venues and brought together Russian and Belarusian specialists in an effort to preserve the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War. The section «Historical Heritage and Strengthening National Unity», organized at the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local History named after O.E.Kler, was attended by 20 speakers, including the director of the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno Inna Pudakevich.

Opening the conference, the director of the museum Alexander Yemelyanov noted: «This kind and important occasion – the 80th anniversary of the Victory – unites us as one people, making us true patriots and guardians of our national history. Today, when veterans are no longer with us, it is we, museum workers, archivists, librarians, who must pass on the memory of the great generation that won the most terrible war. Let our meeting be another step in this noble cause».

In her report «Living Memory: Fostering Patriotism through Historical Truth», Inna Pudakevich shared her experience of working with archival documents, emphasizing the importance of modern methods and technologies for patriotic education of young people. At the same time, one of the key tasks, according to Inna Zenonovna, is to expose the myths and distortions spread in the digital age, where information is easily manipulated.

Pudakevich’s speech emphasized that a harmonious combination of archival science, technology and educational initiatives can not only attract and inspire young people, but also serve as a powerful tool for strengthening national unity. Joint work allows not only to preserve history, but also to create an emotional connection between different generations, uniting society around a common memory and respect for the heroic past.

The international scientific and practical conference «1941-1945. Memory is Alive», held in Yekaterinburg, showed that the memory of the heroic past requires constant efforts to preserve and transmit it, which is possible only through joint and coordinated work.
