An event dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia was held in the archive of public associations of the Gomel region
On April 2, 2025, an event dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia was held in the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» with students of the educational institution «Gomel State University named after Francisk Skaryna».
During the event, students learned about how the Union State was created and how interaction between the two countries is built at the present stage.
As part of the meeting, a screening of the documentary film «Liberation» prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents was organized for students, and the students were also presented with the memoirs of veterans of the Great Patriotic War who participated in the defense of Gomel, personal files of the participants of the Gomel People’s Militia Regiment, as well as documents testifying to the damage caused by the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War.
In conclusion, a sightseeing tour of the archive storage facility was conducted for the students, during which the children became familiar with the main areas of the archive’s activities, the composition and content of its collections, and also visited the exhibition of archival documents «And tomorrow was Victory…», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
