The State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region held a memory lesson «The Tragedy of Khatyn»

On March 21, 2025, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» held a memory lesson «The Tragedy of Khatyn» with students of the educational institution «Gomel State Machine-Building College».

The event was dedicated to a terrible page in the history of the Great Patriotic War – the burning of the small Belarusian village of Khatyn by the Nazi occupiers, which became a symbol of the tragedy of the Belarusian people, a mournful page in the history of the Great Patriotic War.

During the event, the children got acquainted with archival documents, photographs, learned about the events that took place in the village of Khatyn and the fate of its residents, as well as about the memorial complex created at the site of the tragedy.

At the end of the event, a video about the village of Khatyn burned on March 22, 1943 was shown to the children, and a sightseeing tour of the archive was held.
