On the holding of the Information Day at the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region»
On March 13, 2025, the Information Day was held in the reading room of the State Archives of the Gomel Region. Deputy Director Zoya Aleksandrovich informed the employees about the political and economic events taking place in our country and abroad.
In connection with the approaching Constitution Day, Senior Researcher Maya Vashchenko told the employees about the changes and additions to the Constitution adopted as a result of the republican referendum on constitutional amendments on February 27, 2022.
Following the results of the referendum, the text of the Constitution was supplemented with 11 new articles, including one new chapter (on the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly), containing more than 50 new regulations.
The Constitution included provisions aimed at preserving the historical truth and memory of the Great Patriotic War and the mass heroism of the people, and fostering patriotism in the younger generation. This is especially relevant for archivists working with young people as part of the «Young Archivist» and «Archives for School» campaigns in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The archive staff was shown a film by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents about the history of the creation of the Constitution of Belarus.
