On February 15, 2025, employees of the «Zonal State Archive in Slutsk» took part in a rally dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers in Slutsk

A solemn rally dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was held at the memorial sign to Afghan soldiers in Slutsk. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Slutsk District Executive Committee Vladimir Goga, the Chairman of the Slutsk District Council of Deputies Alexander Kurak, the Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Ovsyannikova, Deputy Chairmen of the Slutsk District Executive Committee Natalya Chernushevich, Dmitry Prygin, Afghan soldiers, representatives of law enforcement agencies and other departments, public associations, political parties, labor collectives, youth.

The Chairman of the Slutsk District Organization of the Belarusian Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan, Alexander Kurlovich, speaking at the rally, emphasized that the memory of the exploits of internationalist soldiers is a tribute to the soldiers and officers who showed courage and bravery, loyalty to the oath. 10 residents of Slutsk did not return from that terrible war.

On February 15, 1989, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was officially completed. This date has become a memorable day. More than half a million Soviet soldiers and officers went through the Afghan war. And we have no right to forget – they went there following the oath.

The rally participants honored those killed in the war in Afghanistan with a minute of silence, laid wreaths and flowers at the memorial sign to Afghan soldiers.
