Conducting an event as part of the «Archives for School» campaign for students of the State Educational Institution «Stankovskaya Marat Kazei Secondary School»

On January 20, 2025, a lecture lesson was held for 3rd grade students of the State Educational Institution «Stankovskaya Marat Kazei Secondary School» as part of the «Archives for School» campaign. Deputy Head of the Document and Information Use Department Mikhail Vladimirovich Garelik and leading archivist-restorer of the document restoration laboratory Margarita Arkadyevna Shmaliy spoke to the students.

The participants of the circle got acquainted with physical document carriers, photographic film, magnetic tape, 35-mm and 16-mm film, learned about the basic rules for their storage and approaches to ensuring safety, and about the types of damage to film. During the story, the emphasis was placed on approaches to the restoration of damaged film documents on a film carrier. The participants of the circle could not only see how the restoration process takes place, but also participate in it directly, by gluing the film together.

The lesson and practical lesson aroused the keen interest of the third-graders.
