BGAMLI at a film lecture dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema

On December 12, 2024, employees of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) visited a film lecture dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema at the Museum of Belarusian Cinema. The films «Demonstrator» (directed by Ya.Setko), «The Trust That Didn’t Burst» (directed by Yu.Timofeev), and «The Golden Age of Belarusfilm» (directed by Ya.Setko) were presented at the lecture.

The film in the style of silent films «Demonstrator» tells about the history of the first screenings and filming of films in Minsk. A love line is drawn between the pioneer of Minsk cinema Richard Strömer, who was the producer of the first films shot in Belarus, and the actress of his films.

The film «The Trust That Didn’t Burst» tells about the formation of Belarusian cinema. This film uses materials from BGAMLI, which contain information about Yu. Tarich, the filming of the film «Forest Tale» based on M. Charot. Materials from the V. Korsh-Sablin Foundation are also used.

The film «The Golden Era of Belarusfilm» tells about the period from the 1960s to the 1980s, a turbulent time of work for talented directors, screenwriters, actors and cameramen. The film is made up of interviews, frames from films, documentary footage from the set.
