A round table with international participation «Current issues of documentation and archival science» was held in BelNIIDAD

On October 24, 2024, a round table on the topic «Current issues of documentation and archival science» was held in BelNIIDAD. Along with scientists from BelNIIDAD, the round table was attended by the head of the department of automated systems for document support of the management of the Historical and Archival Institute of the Russian State Humanitarian University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor M.V.Larin and professor of the same department, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor N.G.Surovtseva.

The meeting was opened by the director of the institute A.E.Rybakov, who noted the importance of the event for identifying key problematic issues facing science at the present stage, and wished the participants of the round table fruitful work.

In his speech, M.V.Larin spoke about the main areas of scientific activity of the staff of the Department of AS DOU IAI RSUH, modern approaches to training personnel in the field of document management and archival science, promising topics of scientific research of master’s and postgraduate students. M.V.Larin especially noted the importance of studying foreign, including Belarusian, experience in the field of document and archive management.

N.G.Surovtseva noted the need to rethink and modify the current paradigm in document management, outlined her vision of solutions to a number of conceptual issues related to the creation, handling and storage of electronic documents. Also, N.G.Surovtseva focused on innovations in the field of training students in the areas of activity of the department, emphasized the importance of teaching them the basics of programming in order to more effectively interact with specialists in the field of information technology in the development of information systems for document management and archival storage of electronic documents.

The round table was held in the form of an open dialogue. During the discussions, the participants discussed a wide range of issues in the field of methodology and terminology, the history of the formation and development of documentation and archival science as scientific disciplines, considered promising areas of scientific research, and various aspects of Belarusian-Russian scientific cooperation. Concluding the 3-hour conversation, A.E.Rybakov expressed gratitude to all participants of the round table for their fruitful work, addressing special words of gratitude to his Russian colleagues.
