On the eve of National Unity Day, the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region is holding events with a screening of the film «Reunification» prepared by BGAKFFD

The holiday of September 17 is National Unity Day, a national holiday for Belarusians. This day is one of the key events in the history of the country and symbolizes the unity of the people of Belarus in the pursuit of peace and independence.

This year we celebrate the 85th anniversary of the reunification of Western Belarus with the BSSR.

To mark the significant event, the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region is holding a series of events, the first of which took place on September 12: archive employees attended the premiere of the film «Cultural Code». On September 13, the Belarus-4 TV channel (Vitebsk TV and Radio Company) aired the program «Vitebsk Time», dedicated to September 17, 1939, with the participation of Deputy Director Tatyana Buevich.

Today, September 16, on the eve of National Unity Day, a number of events took place, the key moment of which was the screening of the film prepared by BGAKFFD «Reunification».

The first meeting was with the employees of the Vitebsk branch of the educational institution «Belarusian State Academy of Communications».

Two meetings were held at once on the basis of the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V.I. Lenin: one of them was within the framework of the thematic evening «Belarus United» for the staff of institutions and enterprises, schoolchildren of Vitebsk (employees of the archive itself, the regional library named after V.I. Lenin, representatives of institutions and organizations of the Vitebsk regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of State and Other Institutions, the Vitebsk district organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of the Agro-Industrial Complex, students of Secondary School No. 28 of Vitebsk); and the second meeting – Information Hour «The Power of Unity» with first-year students of the Vitebsk branch of the International University «MITSO» on the topic «September 17 – National Unity Day».

At the same time, a mini-exhibition of documents from the funds of party committees that functioned in 1940-1941 on the territory of the annexed western regions was open.
