On the participation of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents in the Science Festival
On September 7, 2023, employees of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents (hereinafter referred to as BGAKFFD) took part in the event «Science Festival», which was held in the format of an intellectual and entertainment program in the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (hereinafter referred to as NAS RB). The festival has been held since 2018, and by now has become one of the largest popular science events. It is attended by higher education institutions, museums, archives, laboratories, research institutes, foreign research, scientific and production and other organizations.
The BGAKFFD exhibition was located in the Botanical Garden on the thematic site «Laboratory». The archive exposition included samples of film, photo and video document media, albums of photo documents from the collections of N.S.Tagrin and V.I.Kaleda about pre-revolutionary Minsk, stands about the history of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, samples of film and photo equipment, among which the photocopying machine «Yel» was of particular interest, which was used to copy documents for their subsequent replication. The workers of the restoration laboratory demonstrated to visitors various types of work with documents on a film carrier using gluing devices and adhesives. Together with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, photo documents about Belarusian ethnography and the culture of everyday life and everyday life were selected and placed on stands on the thematic site «Ethnography».
