Exhibition «We survived and won» at the international meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus

On July 8, 2024, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus took part in an international meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China were established on January 20, 1992.

The two countries carry out frequent high- and senior-level exchanges, close coordination in international affairs, and support each other on issues related to the core interests of the two countries, which reflects the strategic value of China-Belarus cooperation. Cooperation between Belarus and China in the fields of defense, science, technology, culture and tourism is at the stage of active development. Over 30 years, at least 25 projects have been implemented in industry and the energy sector.

In September 2022, within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Heads of Belarus and China adopted a Joint Declaration establishing the highest level of relations in history: an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership. In March 2023, during the visit of the President of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko to China, a Joint Statement was adopted on the basic principles for the development of exemplary strategic partnership relations between Belarus and China in the new era. Investment cooperation is developing most actively, within the framework of which the Great Stone industrial park project is being implemented, which is one of the most significant objects within the framework of the One Belt – One Road initiative.

Speaking about the education sector, there are currently six Confucius Institutes and two Confucius Classrooms operating in Belarus. The number of students who received Chinese language training was more than 40,000. According to the latest data, about 7,000 Belarusian students are studying Chinese, while more than 5,400 students from China are receiving higher education at universities in Belarus. Educational institutions of Belarus and China are implementing 40 joint educational programs.

Together with the Gili company, the volume of production and sales of cars is being increased as part of a joint project to assemble passenger cars at the site of the BELGI enterprise. Cooperation in the automotive industry is developing with other large Chinese manufacturers, in particular, in the assembly of Honqi cars and the production of Sinotrak VGI passenger cars. Issues of organizing the production of light-duty trucks are being studied.

In addition, our peoples have a long history of jointly fighting against foreign invaders, a clear example of which is the participation in the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War by Ananov Yakov Chaval, a Chinese by nationality, who fought in the Vileika region and was awarded the medal «Partisan of the Patriotic War» I degrees.

The photo-documentary exhibition presents unique documents that are stored in the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents, and the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region.
