On July 1, 2024, on the eve of Independence Day, a meeting of archive workers was held in the reading room of the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» (hereinafter referred to as the State Archive).

Director of the State Archive, Andrei Suschevich, congratulated the staff of the regional archive on the main holiday for the entire Belarusian people – Independence Day!

«This year we are celebrating a significant historical event – the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. This historical date is a reminder of the price our people paid for Independence. Thanks to the feat of our people, who won the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), we live in a peaceful country. This is history, our memory, and we must take care of it and be proud of it,» noted Andrei Suschevich.

Continuing the meeting, the staff of the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» congratulated the young specialist, archivist of the department of accounting and ensuring the safety of documents of the State Archive, Victoria Rudenko, who became a participant in the Republican holiday of graduates of higher educational institutions.

On June 28, 2024, on behalf of the Head of State of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and himself personally, the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Ivanets congratulated the participants.

Holding this event has become a wonderful tradition of rewarding the best graduates of universities who have achieved special success in their studies, creativity, sports, scientific and social activities. This year the holiday was held under the motto «Sails of Dreams», symbolizing that the diplomas received in the future will allow young people to realize their dream – to become professional specialists and be realized in the workplace.

The event program was filled with performances by Belarusian and Russian musical artists, cover bands and DJs, an incendiary disco accompanied by songs of popular performers, and the main surprise from the organizers was the appearance of a ship with scarlet sails in the waters of the Svisloch River under colorful fireworks, symbolizing the hopes and dreams of graduates, which they are capable of implementing.

The Republican holiday of graduates became a beautiful end to a series of thematic weeks dedicated to Youth Day and the eve of Independence Day.
