On conducting archival practice for students of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University

In the period from June 24 to June 28, 2024, on the basis of the state institution «National Historical Archive of Belarus», the archival part of the educational archival and museum practice of 2nd year students of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University, studying in the specialty «History», took place.

Students became familiar with the history, structure, composition of funds, functions of departments of the institution, measures to ensure the preservation of documents and the work of archives.

As part of individual assignments, trainees were involved in performing such types of archival work as searching for biographical data when fulfilling requests of a socio-legal nature, identifying and describing photographic materials in the funds of educational institutions of the Vitebsk province, etc.

During the internship, students received a comprehensive understanding of the activities of the archive and valuable experience in working with original documents, and assessed the possibilities of using materials from the Scientific Research Institute of Belarus in educational, scientific and excursion work.
