Carrying out events at the National Historical Archive of Belarus dedicated to International Children’s Day

On June 1, 2024, International Children’s Day was celebrated in the Republic of Belarus. This is a big holiday that is designed to draw people’s attention to the problems that children face all over the planet.

On June 3, 2024, at a team meeting, archive director Mikhail Glushakov congratulated his colleagues on the international holiday. Deputy Director Natalia Buloichik introduced employees to the history of the holiday and the main directions of the protection and protection of children in Belarus. The head of the department of research and publication activities, Sergei Ryndin, made a report «The system of children’s charity in Belarus at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries,» which examined the main types of charitable institutions providing assistance to children.

An exhibition of documents from the 19th – early 20th centuries has been prepared for the event, which reflects the history of the emergence and development of the system of social work with children in the Belarusian provinces. The compiler of the exhibition, leading researcher at the Department for the Use of Documents and Funds, Vladimir Denisov, spoke in detail about the documents presented at the exhibition.

The exhibition was inspected by employees of the Scientific Research Institute of Belarus and the Belarusian Scientific Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Science.
