About holding a lecture and excursion to BSAMLA
On May 30, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, the director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLA) E.A. Makarenko gave a lecture on the topic «Organization of work on the use of documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus» for 4th year students of the specialty «document science» of the Faculty of History of BSU.
In his lecture E.A. Makarenko focused on the forms of using archival documents: information support for users (legal entities and individuals) in accordance with their requests; providing documents for work in the archive reading room; conducting information events (excursions, public meetings, presentations, lectures); preparation of publications, radio and television programs, etc.
At the end of the event, a tour of BSAMLA took place. During its implementation, students became acquainted with the work of the archive-museum departments. Head of the Department of Scientific Description of Personal Documents O.F. Shatalova and leading archivist G.B. Bogomolov spoke about the specifics of working with documents of personal origin, about the findings and discoveries that can be expected by specialists working with these documents. We visited the archives and saw how documents and artifacts of historical and cultural significance are stored.
This event aroused genuine interest among the participants and a desire to continue their education in their chosen specialty.
