We evacuated in one minute. Fire-tactical exercises were held at the Zonal State Archives of Molodechno
According to legend, one of the storage facilities caught fire. Having discovered the fire, energy engineer Petr Bely reported it to the Rescue Service by calling 112. The immediate evacuation of visitors and workers from the building began.
During the exercise, staff compliance with safety regulations was also checked, including when activating a special gas fire extinguishing system consisting of 10 CO2 cylinders. Workers were also reminded how to use fire-fighting equipment in case of an emergency.
«Such exercises are an effective way to increase the readiness of all involved forces and means to extinguish a fire, and to ensure the safety of documents that form the National Archival Fund. By the way, the institution «Zonal State Archive in Molodechno» houses more than 285,000 storage units. The sources of acquisition are enterprises and organizations in the Vileika, Volozhin, Molodechno and Myadel districts,» shared the director of the archive, Inna Pudakevich.
An expert assessment of the results of the exercise was given by Alexander Podluzhny, deputy head of the Molodechno State Regional Emergency Department. He noted that during tactical training, effective interaction between members of the voluntary fire brigade was organized, and the exercises were held at a decent level. Also, during a preventive conversation, Alexander Sergeevich familiarized the archive workers with the statistics of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and measures to prevent accidents. Since the beginning of the year, 1,388 fires have occurred in Belarus, in which 171 people died, including one child. In the Molodechno district, 16 fires were extinguished with one death. In most cases, the cause of a fire is a person’s careless handling of fire; problem number one is smoking in bed while drunk. The deputy head of the Molodechno State Regional Emergency Service reminded those present about the rules of behavior in everyday life, in summer cottages, and near reservoirs. He also spoke about the importance of installing autonomous fire detectors in houses and apartments and the rules for their use. At the end of the event, everyone was given preventive reminders and booklets.
