A ceremonial meeting on the occasion of the retirement of the director of the National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno, Tatyana Afanasyeva

On March 28, 2024, a ceremonial meeting was held at the Department of Archives and Records Management on the occasion of the retirement of the director of the National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno, Tatyana Yuryevna Afanasyeva.

Tatyana Yuryevna began her career in 1977 at the Grodno Elektropribor plant.

Five years later, in 1982, T.Yu. Afanasyeva entered the archival industry of Belarus.

Over the course of 41 years, she has worked her way from an archivist in the information retrieval systems department of the Central State Historical Archive of the BSSR in Grodno to the director of the National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno.

Tatyana Yuryevna has numerous awards and encouragements: the badge «Ganarov Archivist of Belarus» (2007); Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus (2012, 2014, 2022); Breastplate of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus «For Administrative Sign» of the 2nd stage (2020); Certificate of Honor from the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus (2010, 2023); Gratitude from the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus (2024); Certificate of honor from the Presidium of the Grodno Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Employees of State and Other Institutions (2010, 2015).

Tatyana Yuryevna is included in the Book of Honor of the state institution «National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno».

Under the leadership of T.Yu.Afanasyeva, significant changes took place at the NIAB in Grodno: the archive moved to a new building, as a result of which the conditions for storing unique documents from the western region of Belarus have significantly improved.

The National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno is one of the few archives in the Republic of Belarus that stores documents until 1917. The archive funds concentrate materials from the former Grodno province starting from the 18th century. and ending in the early 50s. XX century

Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management O.L.Voinov noted the contribution of T.Yu. Afanasyeva to the development of the archival industry in Belarus, emphasizing that thanks to her rich experience and knowledge, archivists of the Grodno region have preserved valuable documentary sources of the region. He expressed confidence that the new generation of archive workers will continue the good traditions. I wished T.Yu. Afanasyeva good health, happiness, success and all the best.

The event was attended by heads of republican archival institutions. On behalf of colleagues, the director of the Belarusian Scientific Research Institute of Document Management and Archival Affairs, A.E.Rybakov spoke at the ceremonial meeting.

He expressed gratitude from all his colleagues for the close and long-term cooperation with the National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno under the leadership of T.Yu.Afanasyeva.

At the end, the participants of the solemn meeting wished Tatyana Yuryevna new successes and long life.
