Conducting a lesson for 9th grade students as part of the «Archives for School» event at the institution «State Archives of the Grodno Region»
On March 19, 2024, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, the institution «State Archives of the Grodno Region» held a lesson on the topic «Grodno Unconquered» for students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.2 named after V.Yu.Sayapin in Grodno».
The lesson was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. Archive staff told students about the partisan and underground movement in the Grodno region, about the liberation battles for Grodno in July 1944, about the socio-economic consequences of the occupation and the long process of restoring the national economy destroyed by the war.
The schoolchildren were presented with exhibitions of documents on display in the reading room of the archive dedicated to the events and participants of the Great Patriotic War: «We brought this day closer as best we could..». «There was a people’s war. Partisans and underground fighters of the Grodno region», «Not subject to oblivion».
During a sightseeing tour of the archives, schoolchildren received information about the storage conditions, composition and content of documents stored in the State Archives of the Grodno Region.
