On the presentation of the popular science publication «Keep Forever: Old Minutes and Contemporaries of the National Historical Archive of Belarus» at the National Historical Archive of Belarus
November 27, 2023 at 15.00 at the National Historical Archive of Belarus (Kropotkina, 55, conference hall) there was a presentation of the publication «Keep Forever: Old Minutes and Contemporaries of the National Historical Archive of Belarus».
The publication is timed to coincide with the 85th anniversary of the National Historical Archive of Belarus – the country’s largest repository of handwritten (text and visual) documents on the history of the Belarusian people until 1917. The archive materials cover a number of periods in the history of Belarus – the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Russian Empire and the Provisional Government. The book, in a popular scientific form, indicates the development of archival work in Belarus from antiquity to Soviet times, the functioning of the archive’s predecessors in the 1920-1930s, as well as its history from the time of its creation in 1938 to the organization in its modern form in 1995 g. it also reveals the main directions of activity of the archive and its structural parts, and presents both a historical retrospective of each of them, and the state at the present stage.
The guests were addressed by the director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Voinov, the director of the NIA of Belarus Mikhail Glushakov, the deputy director of the NIA of Belarus Irina Kovganova, the director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Demyanyuk, the director of the Belarusian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Affairs Andrei Rybakov, head of the department of research and publication activities of the NIA of Belarus Sergei Ryndin, deputy head of the department of research and publication activities of the NIA of Belarus Evgeniy Glinsky, head of the department of ensuring the safety of documents and funds of the NIA of Belarus Galina Kutukova.
Honored veterans of the archival service were invited to the presentation and were solemnly presented with copies of the publication.
A presentation dedicated to the history of the National Historical Archive of Belarus was prepared for the event.
