Opening of the exhibition «Архітэктура скрозь стагоддзі»
On September 27, the opening of the exhibition “Architecture through Stagodzi” took place, organized jointly by the Belarusian Public Association of Photographers (hereinafter referred to as BOOF), the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents and the Belarusian Union of Architects.
Photo documents from BGAKFFD presented at the exhibition illustrate the changing appearance of the capital in the pre- and post-war years and represent unique evidence of the history of their era. It is especially necessary to note the uniqueness of these photographic documents – many of these photographs are published for the first time.
The exhibition aroused keen interest among Minsk residents and guests of the capital. The opening was attended not only by representatives of public organizations and cultural institutions, but also by students and a wide range of people interested in photography and architecture.
The use of photographs, including archival photographic documents, is a good help for preserving the architectural history of Belarus and a visual way of transmitting the country’s historical heritage to a new generation. As noted by the Chairman of the BOOF, Vladislav Karolvich Ruta, the association of photographers plans to further strengthen and develop cooperation with the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Audio Documents and intensify joint exhibition activities.
The exhibition will be at the National Center for Contemporary Arts at 47 Independence Avenue until October 15.
