Thematic living room «АРХИВАЖНО: история Полотчины в лицах»
On September 20, a thematic drawing room «АРХИВАЖНО: история Полотчины в лицах» was held in Polotsk. The event is dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation. It was organized by the Main Department of Justice, the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Professional Union of Employees of state and Other Institutions, the Zonal State Archive in Polotsk.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Polotsk District Council of Deputies Gribovich Joseph Frantsevich, Deputy Head of the Department of State Registration of Commercial (non-profit) organizations, legal expertise and organization of archival institutions of the Main Department of Justice of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Pashkevich Oksana Vasilyevna, Chairman of the Polotsk District Association of Trade Unions Zakharenko Olga Nikolaevna, Chairman of the Vitebsk regional organization of the Belarusian Professional Union of State and Other Employees institutions Nefedova Elena Vasilyevna, Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Pogorelaya Ksenia Maksimovna, Honorary Citizen of the city of Polotsk, Vladimir Stepanovich Tochilo.
During the event, reports based on archival documents were presented about Honorary Citizens of the city of Polotsk and the Polotsk district, Colonel Davi Nikolai Sergeevich, one of the organizers of the defense of the city of Polotsk in the summer of 1941, Rubis Peter Efimovich, chairman of the executive committee of the Vitebsk Regional Council of People’s Deputies, Shipilo Evgeny Potafeevich, People’s Artist of Belarus, Peter Orlov, rector and spiritual mentor of the Ancient Orthodox Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos in Polotsk, Chairman of the Central Council of the Ancient Orthodox Pomeranian Church in the Republic of Belarus and others.
Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of History and Tourism of Polotsk State University named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk Korsak Alesya Iosifovna presented materials on the use of archival documents in the personification of military graves. She also told about her participation in the Republican Commission on the Genocide of the population of Belarus.
The honorary citizen of the city of Polotsk, Vladimir Stepanovich Tochilo, told about the people of the Polotsk region with whom he worked and collaborated as chairman of the Polotsk City Executive Committee, and also recalled the people who influenced his formation as a person. During the event, Vladimir Stepanovich composed a poem dedicated to archives and archivists. The handwritten text of the poem with the autograph of the author was solemnly presented to the director of the State Archive in Polotsk, Lazarenok Lyudmila Viktorovna, as the first document that will form the basis of the personal archive fund of Vladimir Stepanovich Tochilo.
In their closing speeches, Chairman of the Polotsk District Council of Deputies Gribovich Joseph Frantsevich, Chairman of the Polotsk District Union of Trade Unions Zakharenko Olga Nikolaevna, Chairman of the Vitebsk regional Organization of the Belarusian Professional Union of Employees of state and Other Institutions Nefedova Elena Vasilyevna thanked for participating in the thematic lounge, noted the relevance and importance of the event, and also announced further cooperation. Oksana Pashkevich, Deputy Head of the Department of State Registration of Commercial (non-profit) Organizations, legal expertise and organization of archival institutions of the Main Department of Justice of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, announced the prospects of holding such events and popularizing archival activities in the region.
