The Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa presents documents on the opening of the House-Museum of I.P. Melezha
40 years ago, on February 12, 1983, the House-Museum of the People’s Writer of Belarus Ivan Pavlovich Melezh (1921 – 1976) opened its doors to visitors in the village of Glinishche, Khoiniki district, Gomel region, where Ivan Pavlovich was born and raised. Documents on the creation and opening of the museum are permanently stored in the Zonal State Archive in Rechitsa.
The real house of Melezha in Glinishchi was sold back in 1970 during his lifetime, therefore, by the decision No. Melezha” (F. 1. Op. 1. D. 496. L. 64, 65) provided for the construction of a new building under the House-Museum. Decision No. 95 of the Executive Committee of the Khoiniki District Council of People’s Deputies dated February 25, 1983 “Issues of the construction and opening of the memorial museum of the BSSR People’s Writer I.P. Melezh” (F. 1. Op. 1. D. 590. L. 28) testifies to the opening of the House-Museum on the above date, as well as to the participation in its creation of the local collective farm “Lenin Shlyakh” (currently – KSUP “Imeni I.P. Melezh).
Today the House-Museum of I.P. Melezha is part of the Khoiniki Regional Museum of Local Lore and still receives admirers of the writer’s work.
