Provision by the State Archive of the Brest Region of documents about Pronyagin P.V. for TV filming

On July 14, 2023, The State Archives of the Brest Region provided archival documents about the participant of the Great Patriotic War, the partisan Pavel Vasilievich Pronyagin for the preparation of the plot by the TV and radio company “Brest” as part of the cycle “Unforgotten Heroes » with the participation of the prosecutor’s office of the Brest region and museum institutions.

Pronyagin Pavel Vasilyevich was born in 1916 in Tatarstan. He studied at the Kazan State University at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, worked as a teacher.

In 1939 he was drafted into the Red Army. He met the first days of the war in the battles near Baranovichi as a commander of a reconnaissance platoon. Once surrounded, he organized a partisan group in the Bytensky district. From May 1942 – commander of the partisan detachment. Shchors.

In August 1942, the partisans captured the village of Kossovo and held it in their hands for some time. More than 200 Jews were rescued from the Kossovo ghetto. Pronyagin’s detachment also helped a group of Jews escape from the Slonim ghetto.

Since April 1943 – chief of staff of the Brest partisan unit.

After the liberation of the Brest region, he worked as the head of the Brest oblono, returned to his homeland for some time, then connected his life with the Brest region. He taught, worked as a school director in Berezovsky and Baranovichi districts. In 1971 he retired and settled in Brest.

By the decision of the Brest City Council of Working People’s Deputies of June 27, 1974 Pronyagin P.V. was awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of the City of Brest”.

Pavel Vasilyevich died on December 1, 1997, and was buried at the Garrison Cemetery in Brest.

Streets in Brest and Kossovo are named after him.
