On June 27, on City Day, specialists from the State Archives in Orsha took part in an event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Orthodox military-patriotic youth search club of UNESCO «Rusichi».

The UNESCO Rusichi Club was established on May 5, 1988, in the year of the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, on the basis of the educational institution Orsha State Vocational School No. 110 of Builders, on the initiative of Grigory Stepanovich Sharay, a history teacher who became the head of the club.

The activities of the club are varied: the search for missing soldiers during the Great Patriotic War, participation in the improvement of monuments, memorials, the restoration of Orthodox shrines, initial military training, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, archival research activities, international cooperation. More than 6 thousand found names of missing soldiers and officers, 1,200 defenders of the Fatherland buried with military honors, and many grateful relatives of the fallen soldiers of the Great Patriotic War – this is the result of 35 years of activity of the Rusichi UNESCO Club.
