On the meeting of archivists of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region» with students of the educational institution «Gomel State Engineering College»

On June 22, 2023, on the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people, the event “Echoes of War” was held for students of the institution education “Gomel State Machine-Building College”.

A representative of the military unit No. 63604, the head of the artillery storage department, Captain Vasiliev Evgeny Vladimirovich was invited to the event, who, within the framework of the lesson, told the children about the key battles of the Great Patriotic War, the exploits of pilots Alexander Pokryshkin, Alexei Maresyev, soldier Nikolai Masalov, and also held career guidance work.

During the event, the children got acquainted with the memories of veterans of the Great Patriotic War who participated in the defense of Gomel in 1941, the personal files of the Heroes of the Soviet Union, as well as the personal files of the members of the Gomel People’s Militia Regiment from the funds of the state archive.

In conclusion, the children were given a tour of the archives, during which the children got acquainted with the main areas of work of the archive.
