Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management O.L.Voinov took part in an international event
A round table in the format of a videoconference was organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Uzarchiv Agency for representatives of archival institutions of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.D.Tashkulov, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus S.N.Khomenko, Head of the Department for Cooperation with Regional Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, National Coordinator of the Republic of Uzbekistan for SCO Affairs R.I.Nurimbetov.
Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus S.N. Khomenko, addressing the participants of the round table, noted that the Republic of Belarus is fulfilling all the prescribed procedures for joining the SCO and participation in the event confirms the readiness of Belarus to work on the platforms of an international organization.
The Minister of Justice stressed that today, together with the CIS member states, active cooperation is underway to create joint projects in the field of exhibition and publishing archival activities in the context of a common history.
During the round table were:
– Director General of the National Archives under the Ministry of Culture of India Sh.Ch.Singh;
– Chairman of the Committee for Archives and Documentation Management of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K.Kakharmanuly;
– Director of the Archival Service under the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic M.A.Alybaeva;
– Director General of the National Archives under the Cabinet of Ministers of Pakistan A.Navid;
– Head of the Federal Archival Agency under the President of the Russian Federation A.N.Artizov;
– Head of the Main Archive Department under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan D.S.Langari;
– Director of the Department for Archives and Paperwork of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov.
The participants of the round table spoke about the state of archival industries in their countries, noted the need to continue a constructive dialogue in the field of archiving, as well as exchange of experience, including in the development of archival legislation.
A promising area of international cooperation, according to the speakers, are joint projects in the field of publishing and exhibition activities. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of cooperation in identifying documents on the history and culture of the participating countries stored abroad. In this direction, good contacts have developed between the archivists of Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management O.L.Voinov in his report highlighted the key areas of activity of Belarusian archivists, introduced new pilot projects in the field of information and educational activities: «Open Film Archive», «Cities of Belarus», the action «Archives for School», «Young Archivist»
The head of the archive industry of Belarus expressed his readiness to acquaint everyone with the experience of Belarusian archives in organizing these projects and made a proposal that these projects be developed within the framework of bilateral cooperation, and subsequently reach the multilateral international level with the involvement of the potential of the participating countries, thereby spiritually enriching and uniting peoples.
From the Republic of Uzbekistan, a proposal was received to hold annual (in early June) round tables with the participation of the heads of archival services of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This initiative was supported by all participants of the round table.
It is symbolic that the first round table on archival topics with the participation of the heads of archival services of the SCO member states was held on the eve of the International Day of Archives (June 9), as well as on the eve of the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the SCO (June 15).
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental international organization, the establishment of which was announced on June 15, 2001 in Shanghai (PRC) by the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The main goals of the SCO include: strengthening mutual trust and good neighborliness among member states; promotion of their effective cooperation in the political, trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields, as well as in the field of education, energy, transport, tourism, environmental protection and others; joint provision and maintenance of peace, security and stability in the region; moving towards the creation of a democratic, just and rational new international political and economic order.
Today the SCO is the world’s largest regional organization. The total area of its member countries exceeds 34 million square kilometers. This is more than 60% of the territory of the Eurasian continent. The total population of the SCO countries is 3.2 billion people, which is about half of the world’s population.
The organization unites 8 permanent members, 4 observer states and 9 dialogue partners.
