About the opening of the exhibition of archival documents on the history and development of the electoral system in the Republic of Belarus

On May 24, 2023, the plenary session of the Council of the Republic and the Chamber of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus will be held in the Oval Hall of the Government House. On May 25, the international scientific and practical conference «Theory and Practice of the Electoral Process», organized by the National Assembly, the Central Election Commission (CEC), and the Academy of Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, will begin. As part of the ongoing activities, the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus prepared a documentary exhibition «The History of the Development of the Electoral System in the Republic of Belarus».

The funds of the National Archive contain documents on the creation of the CEC, mandates of its members, sample election documents for elections to the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR, instructions of the Central Election Committee on elections to the Council of Deputies, documents on conducting elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Parliament, local Councils of Deputies, as well as documents on the holding of republican referendums. The documents presented at the exhibition reflect the establishment and development of the electoral system in our country. Minister of Justice S.N.Khomenko, members of the Parliament and participants of the international conference got acquainted with the documents.

The exhibition was attended by the director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov, the director of the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus A.K. Demenyuk, and archive employees.
