On the organization of the joint exhibition «No one is forgotten! Nothing is forgotten!»

On May 4, 2023, the Zonal State Archives in Orsha organized a joint exhibition with the Museum of History and Culture of the city of Orsha of the cultural institution «Museum Complex of History and Culture of the Orsha Region» – «No one is forgotten! Nothing is forgotten!», dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day.

Victory Day for us is really a holiday «with tears in our eyes.» Too many sons and daughters were missing from the republic because of the German fascist aggression. After all, every Belarusian family has its own history connected with the Great Patriotic War. Among them are not only military stories, but also about life under occupation, in a camp or in a partisan detachment. A large part of the Belarusians were driven away for forced labor in Germany. They worked in large factories and small farms in Germany. More than 2 million inhabitants of Belarus were destroyed by the Nazis. Unfortunately, even today the figure of human losses is not accurate.

The exposition of the exhibition presents 80 archival documents and photographs from the funds of the Zonal State Archive in Orsha: protocols of interrogations of citizens to establish the atrocities of the Nazi invaders, acts of investigation of atrocities by commissions for the assistance of the ChGK, lists of those driven to Germany, shot, hanged and tortured citizens, personal documents of citizens (letters, photographs) driven to Germany for forced labor, etc., as well as exhibits of the Museum of History and Culture of the city of Orsha. This project will continue its work until July 5, 2023.

The exhibition is addressed to a wide range of people: schoolchildren, students, local historians, teachers and everyone interested in the history and culture of the region.
