Conducting a lesson for 9th grade students as part of the «Archives for School» campaign

On April 28, 2023, as part of the “Archives to School” campaign, the State Archives of the Grodno Region institution held a lesson for 9th grade students of the State Educational Institution “Secondary School No. 31 in Grodno” on the topic “The tragedy of the civilian population during the Great Patriotic War”.

During the lesson, the archive staff introduced the schoolchildren to the documents of the Commission for the Investigation and Establishment of the Atrocities of the Nazi Invaders and the Damage Caused by Them on the Territory of the Grodno Region. The children were shown documentary materials reflecting the activities of the occupying authorities on the territory of the Grodno region during the Great Patriotic War. Also, the students were presented with the exhibition “Human Fates. In memory of the victims of fascism”, “There was a people’s war. Partisans and underground workers of the Grodno region.

The students visited the archives, as well as the laboratory for the restoration, repair and binding of documents. The laboratory staff demonstrated the process of restoring old and damaged documents, and also showed the children the special equipment used to digitize documents.
