On the construction of a memorial sign to employees of the Belarusian police in the village of Gai
During the defense of Mogilev, in July 1941, a police battalion, which covered the northern approaches to the city, especially distinguished itself. On the border of the villages of Pashkovo and Gai, 250 fighters of the battalion held back the onslaught of the Germans for 7 days.
The battalion commander was the head of the service and combat training department of the Mogilev regional police department Konstantin Vladimirov.
In accordance with the decision of the Bureau of the Mogilev Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus and the Executive Committee of the Mogilev Regional Council of Workers’ Deputies «On the construction of a memorial sign perpetuating the memory of the Belarusian police officers who died during the defense of Mogilev in July 1941» dated August 26, 1974 No. 14-11 / 380 was A decision was made to build a monument.
In 1980, the monument was erected in the form of a stele, symbolizing the banner, on which the bas-reliefs of the faces of two fighters stand out in relief (sculptor M.Kuznetsov, architect K.Alekseev).
