On holding an event as part of the educational project «SAC: School of an Active Citizen»

On April 27, on the basis of the EE «Secondary School No.2 of Dzerzhinsk», as part of the events for the Year of Peace and Creation, the action «Archives for School» and the educational project «SAC», a lecture «Traditions and rituals of the Belarusian people» was held. The speaker from the institution «Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents» (hereinafter referred to as BGAKFFD) was the leading archivist of the department for the use of documents and information M.V.Garelik.

Carefully preserving the heritage of the past, modern Belarus is laying down new traditions, because they contain the achievements and the best qualities of Belarusians as a people: friendliness, calmness, mercy. This is exactly what was discussed at the meeting with schoolchildren. M.V.Garelik emphasized the need to preserve folk traditions, because they are the foundation of the future, and, in addition, part of the global cultural heritage.

The film «Belarusian Folk Calendar. Kupalle» (2005) from the BGAKFFD funds illustrated the story of the preservation of folk customs and did not leave the audience indifferent.
