On conducting an excursion for employees of the sewing workshop of the State Institution «Group of Logistics of the Border Service Bodies»
On April 19 and 20, 2023, as part of the events for the Year of Peace and Creation, the employees of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents (hereinafter – BGAKFFD) conducted excursions for employees of the sewing workshop of the State Institution «Logistics Group of the Border Service Bodies».
The guests got acquainted with the unique audiovisual documents from the archive funds, restoration and preventive measures to ensure their safety, and the capabilities of the BGAKFFD scientific reference apparatus. The participants of the tour were especially interested in the story about the digitization of archival documents with the help of modern scanning equipment.
The collection of photographs of military journalist V.I.Arkashev aroused great interest among the tourists. These photographs are a unique and invaluable evidence of the feat of a Soviet soldier during the Great Patriotic War. The collection of photographs by E.Tomashevskaya – Radzivil and A.M.Bogomolov made no less impression on the visitors of the archive.
Also during the tour, visitors were shown a documentary film «New Minsk» in the cinema hall of the archive (1954, arch. No. VD00801) about the post-war restoration of the capital of Belarus.
The visitors of the BGAKFFD noted the uniqueness of the archive and its work to preserve the historical memory of the Belarusian people. During the tour, the guests had a unique opportunity to see the work of the archive from the inside, to touch the technological processes.
