Conducting a lesson for students as part of the «Archives for School» campaign for 8th grade students

On March 28, 2023, as part of the «Archives to School» campaign, the institution «State Archive of the Grodno Region» for 8th grade students of the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No.7 Grodno» a lesson was held on the topic «The tragedy of the civilian population during the Great Patriotic War».

During the lesson, schoolchildren were introduced to the documents of the Commission for the Investigation and Establishment of the Atrocities of the Nazi Invaders and the Damage Caused by Them on the Territory of the Grodno Region. These materials are an important source that reveals the essence, nature and consequences of the occupation regime. Also, the students were presented with the exhibition «Human Fates. In memory of the victims of fascism».

The students were shown cards of prisoners of war who were in German camps, medical certificates of citizens sent to work in Germany, certificates of prisoners of the ghetto, questionnaires of workers, notices of calls for work, and many other documents.

A sightseeing tour of the archive was held, during which the schoolchildren visited the archives, where they got acquainted with the conditions for storing documents and saw especially valuable archival copies, which are unique evidence of the historical past of the Grodno region.
