On the opening of the exhibition «Partisans of Belarus» at the Ministry of Health

On March 27, a unique exposition dedicated to the partisan and underground movement on the territory of the BSSR during the Great Patriotic War and based on the documents of the unique project of the publishing house «Belarus Today» and the National Archives, materials of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents, opened within the walls of the Ministry of Health.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by: Minister of Health Dmitry Pinevich, Chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers Vyacheslav Shilo, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House Dmitry Zhuk, Deputy Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus Elena Stukanova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC ASB Belarusbank Dmitry Kraskovsky.

Deputy Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus Elena Stukanova noted in her speech that in the work of the archive it is very important not only to preserve documents, but also to make them accessible to everyone:

«It is thanks to the Partisans of Belarus project that the documents have become available anywhere in the world and at any time to anyone who is interested. This project concerns everyone and everyone. Because in almost every family there are ancestors who took part in the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War».

Over 374 thousand partisans and more than 70 thousand members of the underground fought against the Nazis on the territory of Belarus. Among them, there were 570 doctors and 2095 paramedical workers in the partisan detachments and formations.

During the operation of the Internet portal «Partisans of Belarus» more than 800 thousand visits were recorded. Today, the virtual database of the project contains almost 209 thousand electronic cards of partisans and underground fighters.
