On holding a meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy in secondary school No.62 in Minsk
On March 23, 2023, a meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy was held at secondary school No.62 as part of the «Archives for School» campaign.
Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Demyanuk, architect Galina Levina, associate professor of the Department of Source Studies at the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University Kuzma Kozak spoke to students of grades 5–8. Among the invited guests is a witness of the genocide of the Belarusian people Yakov Kravchinsky. In 1941, he was supposed to go to first grade … But he ended up in the Minsk ghetto with his mother, survived the mass extermination of Jews, and later ended up in a partisan detachment.
A. Demyanuk presented to schoolchildren the exhibition «Khatyn – a shrine of national memory» and a collection of documents «Khatyn tragedy», dedicated to the terrible facts of the destruction of the civilian population of Belarus by the Nazis and their accomplices and the creation of a memorial complex at the site of the tragedy.
