Archivists visited the Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus on an excursion
On February 20, 2023, employees of the Archives and Records Management Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus, the National Historical Archive of Belarus, the Belarusian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Affairs visited the Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus.
Archivists and librarians are connected by long–term cooperation – many joint projects have been organized, exhibitions from the collections of the Belarusian archives and the Presidential Library have decorated various events more than once, and in September 2022, the staff of the Presidential Library visited the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus on excursions.
The tour of the Presidential Library allowed archivists to learn more about the activities of the institution, about the values stored in the library collections, to learn interesting facts from the history of the Government House, which houses the library.
During a visit to the department of old printed and rare publications, archivists got acquainted with rare copies of books, documents and periodicals reflecting state, social and cultural changes from the XV to the XX centuries.
The guests of the Presidential Library also got acquainted with the unique museum artifacts of three time periods: pre-war, occupation and post-war, found during construction work under the roof of the Government House.
The archivists also visited a thematic exhibition dedicated to the history of the development of notary activity and legislation on the notary of the Republic of Belarus. The exhibition presents legislative acts, books and periodicals that reveal the history of the development of the notary, reviews of changes in legislation on notarial activities and other documents reflecting the activities of judicial authorities.
