On October 31, 2022, within the framework of the republican action “Archives for School” and the Year of Historical Memory, a thematic excursion “Introduction to the National Archives” was held for students in grades 5-6 of the State Educational Institution “Secondary School No. 90 in Minsk”

As part of the meeting, the head of the department, M.A. Starostenko, spoke about the history of the National Archives, about the composition and features of storing documents, about the work of the reading room, and also introduced unique documentary materials about the crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices against the civilian population of occupied Belarus, the genocide of the Belarusian people, about the horrifying facts of the massacre of civilians during the Great Patriotic War, about the life of partisan detachments.

Schoolchildren had a sightseeing tour to the archive reading room, where they could see the work of users with devices for reading microfiche and microfilm, as well as to the repository, where they talked about the storage of archival documents.

Leaving the archive, the schoolchildren thanked for the informative tour, and also noted that they would tell their parents and friends about what they saw, and someone might work as an archivist.
