Advanced training courses “Modern Approaches to Archival Management in the Republic of Belarus” for employees of regional and local state archives
The advanced training courses “Modern Approaches to Archival Management in the Republic of Belarus” for the personnel of regional and local state archives were held at the Department for Advanced Studies and Retraining of the Belarusian State University on May 23-27, 2022.
During the courses, 18 workers of state archives from all regions of Belarus were trained, including: from Brest region – 3, from Vitebsk region – 5, from Gomel region – 4, from Grodno region – 3, from Minsk region – 2, and from Mogilev region – 1.
The lectures and practical classes were conducted by the specialists of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the central archival institutions, as well as teachers of the Department of Source Studies of the History Department of the Belarusian State University.
The program of the course included a number of topical issues concerning the theory, methodology and practice of archival work (“Reflection of Issues of Preservation and Finding Aids in the Main Performance Indicators of State Archival Institutions”, “Types of Requests Received by the State Archives of the Republic of Belarus from Citizens and Legal Entities”, “Ensuring Archival Storage of Electronic Records”, “Methodology of Electronic Document Publication”, etc.)
On May 24, 2022, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (NARB) held lectures on the work of archives and records management services in institutions.
Employees of regional and zonal state archives had an overview tour of the National Archives and learned its main activities with the participation of the heads of the archives’ structural subdivisions.
The tour was followed by a round table meeting on the topic “Current Trends in Records Management and Archive Business” that focused on current problems in organizing work with electronic records, staffing of the industry, continuous training for archivists throughout their career, specifics of archival documents of personal origin, features of preparing publications of archival documents using information technology. First Deputy Director of the Department O. A. Ledovskaya and Director of the National Archives A. K. Demyanyuk, took part in the meeting.
All trainees received certificates of completion of advanced training courses of the established state standard.
